Below are some samples from the book of poetry, "Pomes" by Erin and collaborator, Claire Stevenson-Blythe.
To rove around with you at night,
For art and rain alike;
Slurping up the amber dust
And setting free our bikes;
To walk without a flattened trail,
To grow, anew, our own
exhumes a life that would’ve hid
deep beneath the stones.
We march in change, unite in joy
And maze into the night
We scream so loud so we’ll be heard
because we have the right.
We'll love our friends and like our loves
We'll kiss a frog or two
We'll make mistakes and while it aches
We're always glad we do.
We'll twist-it to our heart's content
We jump up high and low
We kiss some girls and drink too much
Cause we forgot our blow.
The night dissolves
Our phones switch off
Let fall our weary heads
When summers old and wind is ripe
We'll burrow to our beds.
And when the sky has spent her gold
Winds trumpet songs of mist
We’ll read with trees and turn the leafs
Lights beaming, we exist.
Here’s to … stolen nights
Leaking secrets from each pore.
The pungent smell
Of alcohol
Lingers from the night before
No one knew,
But me and you,
Why we stayed up late.
Counting freckles?
Telling stories?
… Drowning out roommates?
Here’s to … rare beginnings,
Under pale and purple moons
Bite marks left, deep in your chest
… a little bit too soon.
And then there’s …
Not-quite endings,
A sickness in the Wild
Back to a place
Now Lost in Space,
When I was just a child.
Erin's next book of art and poetry, Sintimates, will be released in 2021.
